yes and no. the clearance is not enough for most road tires. I have some really skiny cross tires on an old Bianchi road bike that work for my cross/fixie they are "Ritchey speed max cross" so you could try those. many that want to try cyclocross use a mountain bike the first time. by all means give something a shot.
